Common questions
How do I start over?
Open the Profile tab and tap Reset. You'll be asked to confirm. Reset clears your date of birth, life expectancy, karma log, karma hours bonus, your earned badges, your pinned karma actions, and your daily reminder schedule on this device. You'll be returned to the onboarding flow. Your chosen appearance is kept — it's a display setting, not part of your data.
Can I change how the app looks?
Yes. Open the Profile tab and find Appearance. There are two separate choices:
- Skin — the colour scheme. Midnight is the original look; Tide is cool blues and teals; Bloom is vivid colour on a neutral grey.
- Mode — light or dark. Leave it on System and KarmaClock follows your phone's setting, or pick Light or Dark to override it.
The two are independent, so every skin works in both light and dark. Changes apply straight away, and your home-screen widgets follow along.
My daily reminder isn't firing.
Check three things, in order:
- The reminder is enabled in the Profile screen (toggle is on, time is set to a future moment in the day).
- Notification permission is granted to KarmaClock in your phone's Settings (iOS: Settings → Notifications → KarmaClock; Android: Settings → Apps → KarmaClock → Notifications).
- Your phone isn't in Focus / Do Not Disturb / Bedtime mode at the chosen reminder time.
If all three look right and reminders still don't arrive, email us with your phone model + OS version.
Do I need an account?
No. KarmaClock works fully without signing in — your profile, karma log, and reminder all live on your device. The current build does not surface a sign-in option; account-based features are reserved for upcoming releases.
How do I change my date of birth or life expectancy?
The current build doesn't have an in-app editor for these fields after onboarding. The fastest way to change them is Profile → Reset, which puts you back through the 3-step onboarding with the new values. We're aware this is rougher than it should be — an in-place edit screen is on the roadmap.
I see karma actions I've completed listed as "Done today" — when do they reset?
Daily actions reset at midnight in your phone's local time zone. Weekly actions reset 7 days after completion. Monthly actions reset 30 days after completion. One-time actions stay completed forever (they're milestones — donating blood, writing a will, etc.).
The app crashed. What happened?
Sorry. Email karmaclock.app@gmail.com with what you were doing right before the crash, your phone model, and your OS version. If you can grab a crash report from your phone (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Analytics Data, look for files starting with KarmaClock), attach it.
Is my data safe?
See the privacy policy for the full picture. Short version: as of v1.0.6, your profile and karma log live encrypted on your device only and are not transmitted to any server. Anonymous product analytics events go to PostHog. We don't sell, share with advertisers, or use your data to train models.
